Flashbacks of Nam

Boo boo budoobey...Gan Ainm Nam! We've just come back from a crazy weekend in Saigon from which the city, and the band, is still reeling. The punters at the Dublin Gate Irish Pub didn't know what hit 'em. They don't normally get to see five gobshites making eejits of themselves to such an insane soundtrack. To get a taste of what it was like you can see a few new videos of our Vietnam gig that we've uploaded to our Video Footage page. We've come back with a terrible hangover, but also a renewed enthusiasm to get back in the studio and learn some brilliant new material with our new lineup.

Speaking of which, our new bassist, Paddy Troy, was well and truly broken in over the course of the weekend. He will never be the same again and that's probably not a bad thing. We're now looking for our sixth member to fill out our new lineup. Ideally he/she will be a fiddler but some other traditional instruments would also be fine. If you think you've got what it takes to drink 20 Jaegerbombs in one night and still manage to play some fast hard Irish rock then you might just be what we're looking for. Get in touch with us at our email ganainm.sg@gmail.com if you think you can handle it.

In the meantime we have a few gigs lined up for you over the next three months at our usual haunts, including a pre-Christmas gig so hopefully we'll be brushing up on Fairytale of New York. We're also really looking forward to entertaining the Singapore Gaelic Lions GAA Club at their annual post-Asian Gaelic Games piss-up in November where they will hopefully be celebrating bringing home some silverware for Singapore again. Watch this space and our Facebook for details of all our gigs and we'll see you soon!

A Farewell to Arms

Our bassist, Eugene McChew, and fiddler, Jeffrey O'Tan, have reached that certain age in a young man's life when he is called up and must go off to be conscripted in the military. They must therefore trade in their bass and fiddle for sandbags and spades and will be unable to continue to grace Gan Ainm as they will be stuck in the trenches on the eastern front (Tekong). This will also mean that Gan Ainm will unfortunately, have to go on an indefinite hiatus and this Saturday will be our farewell gig. Come down to McGettigan's Clarke Quay at 10:30pm on Saturday (28 May 2016) to get the two young lads heavily intoxicated and give them (and the rest of us) a proper send off, Gan Ainm style. Till we meet again...

Gan Ainm Play St Patrick's Weekend, Singapore 2016

It's that time of year again - time to break out mildly offensive Irish stereotypes and celebrate whatever people think it means to be Irish. This usually involves drinking to excess. What better place to do just that than McGettigan's, Clarke Quay where pints of Guinness are going for $10 each all weekend starting tonight! You don't need a pot of gold to afford that and you won't find a cheaper pint anywhere in Clarke Quay! Also Gan Ainm will be providing the soundtrack to your seasonal drunken revelry for as long as they can stand up. A small band of sweaty leprechauns are on standby (they are literally standing by on a small patch of empty bar counter) to fill in for us in case one or more of us passes out. We kick off tonight (17th March - St Patrick's Day!!!) at 9pm and we'll be back on Friday at 9:30pm and Saturday at 7pm. There's no excuse not to be there because if we find out you're at home we will send the leprechauns out to hunt you down. Don't think we won't. Sláinte!

Gan Ainm play CRAFT Singapore 2016!

Most Gan Ainm fans should know by now that when it comes to booze, Gan Ainm have very discriminating palettes. You will, no doubt, have observed us on various occasions sipping thoughtfully on various libations on stage and returning those found to be of inadequate quality. This is why we are particularly relieved to announce that we will be gracing CRAFT Singapore, Singapore's craft beer festival, with our presence this Sunday at 7pm, where we will finally have access to masterfully brewed beers and artisanal cuisine worthy of being associated with Gan Ainm's sterling reputation for quality and authenticity. And what better time and place to showcase this delectable pairing of Celtic rock and handcrafted brews than a relaxing Sunday evening down at Marina Bay, right beside the Marina Bay Sands (Bayfront MRT), as the sun sets. We look forward to tasting some refreshments with you then. It will undoubtedly be awfully civilised. Tickets available here.
